Childhood and early career :
Hingis was born to accomplished tennis players Slovak father,Karol Hingis and Czech mother,Melanie Molitorova..They named their daughter Martina Hingisova after the great Martina Navratilova..Hingis began playing tennis when she was two years old and entered her first tournament at age four. In 1993, 12-year-old Hingis became the youngest player to win a Grandslam junior title: the girls' singles at the French Open..In 1994,she retained her French Open title and won the Wimbledon Title as well..and was ranked the no:1 junior player...She made her professional in October 1994,two weeks after her 14th birthday..In 1995,she became the youngest player to win a match at a Grandslam tournament when she advanced to the second round of the Australian Open

Injury and the return to the game :
Hingis reached her 5th consecutive Australian Open final in 2001 and lost to Jennifer Capriati 6-4,6-3.. She underwent surgery on her right angle in October,2001 ..Coming back from injury, Hingis won the Australian Open doubles final at the start of 2002 (teaming with Anna Cournicova) and reached a 6th straight Australian Open final where she again met Jennifer Capriati in the finals.. Hingis led by a set and 4–0 and had four match points but lost 4–6, 7–6, 6–2. In May 2002, she needed another ankle ligament operation, this time on her left ankle. After that, she continued to struggle with injuries and was not able to recapture her best form.
In 2003, at the age of 22, Hingis announced her retirement from tennis. In several interviews, she indicated she wanted to go back to her country and coach full time...
In February 2005, Hingis made an unsuccessful return to competition at an event in Pattaya,Thailand where she lost to Germany's Marlene Weingartner in the first round..Hingis, however, resurfaced in July, playing singles, doubles, and mixed doubles in World Team Tennis.. notching up singles victory over two top 100 players and shutting out Navratilova in singles.. Hingis announced her return to WTA on November 29,2006.. At 2006 Australian open she lost in the quarterfinals to the 2nd seeded Kim Clijsters but went on to claim the mixed doubles title along with Mahesh Bhupati...That was her first Grandslam mixed doubles title..Hingis reached the quarterfinals of the French open again bowing out to Kim Clijsters 7-6(5),6-1.. At Wimbledon she lost in the 3rd round to Ai Sugiyami.. She lost in the 2nd round of the US Open to no:112,Virginie Razzano of France..Again in 2007..she reached the quarters of Australian Open losing to Kim Clijsters.. 3-6,6-4,6-4.. She didnt play at the French Open due to a hip injury and lost in the 3rd round of the Wimbledon which she later claimed tht she shudnt hve played..
After testing positive for the usage of cocaine, she was banned from WTA for 2 years..following which she announced her retirement from tennis..
Thus... it ended the career of Hingis prematurely.. one of the greatest players of all time ... the youngest player to win a Grandslam match(at 14 years),a youngest Wimbledon doubles title(at 15 years),youngest Grandslam singles winner(at 16 years and 3 months) ... a set of 'youngest' records.. the most charmful, attractive yet all-court player...Martina Hingis!!!!
